Cargo Handling Specialist

Tropical Shipping is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Cargo Handling Specialist to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated professionals.  The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet operates at peak performance, contributing directly to the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of their operations.

Examines and accepts cargo in order to protect the best interests of Tropical and its customers. Ensures cargo adheres to Tropical's minimum standards for acceptance of cargo. Utilizes normal notification techniques to call the Supervisor/Crew Leader to resolve problems with cargo that do not adhere to Tropical requirements. Measures and documents the size, type and characteristics along with a complete written account of deficiencies of the shipment. Properly applies Tropical labels, based on cargo markings and paperwork, and enters correct information into the warehouse management system, preparing the cargo for putaway. Operates a forklift while receiving, stripping or putting away cargo. Puts away cargo in the proper location, once again, documenting that transaction correctly in the warehouse management system.
