GFL Environmental is actively seeking a skilled and experienced 421A heavy-duty mechanic to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated professionals. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet operates at peak performance, contributing directly to the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of our operations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs repairs and provides preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Conducts examination, diagnosis, and repair of hydraulic, electrical suspension, brake, and air systems in vehicles and other equipment.
  • Uses computer systems in the vehicle to detect failure mode to begin or fix the problem.
  • Estimates time and costs for repairs to vehicles and the purchase of new components.
  • Completes the work in accordance with Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Conducts service calls in case of emergencies involving breakdowns.
  • Conducts safety inspections on vehicles and other equipment.
  • Completes the required paperwork using the Fleet Maintenance Software program that's used for repairing vehicles, keeping track of the usage of parts, and keeping track of repair times.
  • Reviews the repairs, makes them complete, or assigns them to repair experts noted in Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Performs maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Keeps a clean and safe working area that is in conformity with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • All work is performed in accordance with the established safety guidelines.
