Cern is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Hydraulic Technician for the CMS Experiment to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about maintaining and repairing equipment used in environmental services. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet operates at peak performance, contributing directly to the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of their operations.

As a Mechanical Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively contributing to the assembly and disassembly of the detector, including the safe operation of screw jacks, hydraulic jacks, strand-jack systems, high-pressure air pads, and pneumatic locking systems to open and close large CMS components.
  • Maintaining and enhancing heavy lifting and hydraulic tools, as well as designing, installing, and commissioning new equipment as required.
  • Organizing and supervising on-site activities involving collaboration with technicians and external contractors.
  • Assisting with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the mechanical workshop at the CMS site, acting as the deputy to the workshop supervisor.
  • Reading and interpreting 2D and 3D technical drawings to construct custom tooling and manufacture mechanical components.
