MACLEAN ENGINEERING & MARKETING is actively seeking a skilled, experienced Assembly Supervisor to join their dynamic team. Responsibilities:

  • Engage, motivate, and enlist the help of a team of employees with diverse skills.
  • Increase efficiency and utilization, and manage labour variation, by ensuring that overall skillsets are properly distributed across a range of tasks with competing priorities.
  • Set clear goals, expectations, and instructions for team members. Effectively and constructively communicate with colleagues and other employees of management. Participate in production and other meetings and work constructively and positively.
  • Review the labour book to verify accuracy. Examine any labor variances with the employee to identify their root cause. Recognize the incorrect standards of labor and make any changes necessary.
  • Participate in the process of recruitment in the manner that is necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Materials department to ensure that the right and adequate amount of components are in stock throughout the day to ensure the timely and efficient completion of work assignments.
  • In collaboration together with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure non-conformances are identified and addressed quickly. Receive and issue work orders to monitor non-conformances, and then close them after they have been completed.
  • Check the flow of work and review priorities to ensure that work is completed on time.
  • Track team performance and other KPIs, and report on the same.
  • Approve time cards, look over, and accept vacation requests based on the demands of production. Review and respond to excessive absenteeism or persistent tardiness.
  • Assess and review the employee's performance on a one-to-one basis, before and after probation. Develop, coach, and mentor employees. Performance Improvement Plans and deliver corrective actions when required.
  • Present complete, fair, and objective annual appraisals of performance to each employee.
  • Examine the quality of work performed and ensure that employees are accountable for their work. Review Quality Alerts with the responsible or affected employees. Keep track of a "Quality Index" and take part in discussions on the meanings and definitions for "Manufacturing Standard Quality".
  • Cooperate closely with the ISO Coordinators to be sure that the measurement equipment and instruments are kept in good condition and calibrated. As an integral member of the team, in all ISO initiatives, including risk analysis and helping in the creation of and revisions to Standard Operating Procedures. Inform employees about the content of any revised or new SOP.
  • Assign weekly HS&E inspections and review each month JH&S Committee inspections, followed by prompt implementation and development of action plans for addressing any non-conformities or deficiencies discovered.
  • Institute using PPE and make sure that the safety of your employees is adhered to throughout the day, reprimanding employees' behavior when necessary.
  • In the event of an injury In the event of injury, ensure that your employee receives immediate first aid treatment. Prepare First Aid Reports, and examine and write accident reports. This is followed by prompt implementation and development of corrective action plans to take care of the root cause.
  • Make and distribute an offer of modified duties and collaborate with the HS&E Officer to design return-to-work programs.
  • Conduct an official H&S risk analysis, preparing and implementing action plans as required to minimize any risk of injury to employees.
  • Give " New Hire" position-specific orientation. Provide or else ensure that the new hires receive general and work-specific safe work-related training.
  • Initiate regular "Toolbox" meetings, as well as regular " Safety Talks" when necessary, in an effort to create an Safe Work Culture facility wide. Monitor employee feedback with the HS&E Officers as a result of meetings with employees.
  • Employ Apprentices for different work-related tasks in order to provide adequate exposure to the performance targets that are listed in the Apprenticeship Training Standards for their specific field of work. Assist Apprentices in forming teams with a trainer who has experience, and ensure that performance targets are reviewed and a recording of training is completed regularly.
  • Profit enhancement by cost reduction. Review workflow as well as research new methods and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity. Develop a process and improvement plan ,and then implement.
