Shop Mechanic

Johnston Equipment is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Shop Mechanic to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet operates at peak performance, contributing directly to the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of their operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair lift trucks to ensure they are fully operational and delivered on schedule.
• Identify faulty or worn mechanical and electrical components, and communicate repair recommendations to customers while executing effective repair solutions.
• Perform complete rebuilds of lift trucks, including pressure washing, disassembly, inspection, prep work, and painting.
• Rebuild key components such as electric motors, drive units, hydraulic cylinders, and pumps, and mast assemblies with precision and care.
• Modify lift trucks as needed, including adjusting base leg widths, installing or repositioning mast stops, and fabricating custom tools, racks, or attachments; operate lathes to machine shafts and disks as required.
• Support team members with heavy-duty tasks and assist in the repair and maintenance of lift trucks to ensure safe and efficient workflows.
