Job Summary:

          The General Manager will lead manufacturing operations at the site level, overseeing manufacturing engineering, production, quality, receiving, service parts fulfillment, shipping, and facility maintenance. The role involves collaborative relationships within a diverse organization, working towards customer commitments for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Essential Functions:

  • Directly oversee site-level manufacturing plant operations, aiming for continuous improvement in throughput and cost reduction.
  • Develop site-level goals aligned with company objectives, emphasizing safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
  • Manage daily and monthly production planning, monitoring performance against unit production goals.
  • Develop and oversee the facility budget, including capital expenditure projects and cost management.
  • Document processes under site-specific quality management system requirements and document control system procedures.
  • Lead investigations of process non-conformities, determining root causes, and implementing corrective and preventative measures.
  • Promote employee engagement, training, and development to enhance safety, quality, and productivity while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional leadership team to implement effective employee relations processes and develop managers for a positive working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and procedures, striving for zero incidents and injuries.
  • Maintain professional communication with internal and external parties while adhering to company policies to mitigate liability exposure.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality management systems, supply chain management, lean manufacturing techniques, manufacturing operations, and logistics.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a thorough understanding of operations and material flow.
  • Proficient in the use of manufacturing data systems.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions, work rules, and procedures.
  • Willingness to act as a servant leader to train and develop others.

Work Environment:
          Primarily an office-based role with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May involve offsite work in various environments; travel may be required.

Required Education & Experience:
          Four-year degree with a minimum of 5+ years of supervisory leadership experience in a lean manufacturing environment.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree with 7+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, leading a diverse and cross-functional team in lean manufacturing principles, including value stream mapping, waste reduction, and meeting customer commitments. Willingness to participate in community outreach efforts and represent the company locally.
  • Six Sigma Belt certification.
