Hydraulic piston accumulators are pressure vessels that contain hydraulic fluid at pressure, by use of a piston separating the fluid from a compressible gas; usually nitrogen.
How do they work?
Fluid Storage: Hydraulic fluid is pumped into the accumulator and compresses the gas behind the piston.
Energy Storage: The compressed gas holds potential energy.
Energy Release: Once the hydraulic system needs fluid, the compressed gas expands to push the piston and force the stored fluid back into the system.
