Kalmar and MCT Close Significant Order for Eco-Efficient Hybrid Straddle Carriers

Cargotec's Kalmar and the Mediterranean Container Terminal (MCT) have entered a major order to supply eco-efficient hybrid straddle carriers. A major order this is, of course, marks a significant stride toward decarbonizing port activities and underscores the demand for sustainable solutions in container handling. The major order includes Kalmar's most significant number of its hybrid straddle carriers, intended to reduce consumption of fuel as well as harmful emissions compared with traditional diesel-powder machines.

Hybrid straddle carriers running on a diesel and electric hybrid are also to be employed for efficient fuel saving and minimum emission. With this, it allows the hybrid machines to function electrically, like for stacking and short distances for transporting cargo. Thus, such investment contributes to MCT's sustainable nature as it attempts to decrease its negative effects on the environment. It thus marks the latest in a growing list of initiatives from the industry to shift toward more environmentally friendly solutions and underscores hybrid technology's position in enabling much greener port operations. With this order, Kalmar strengthens its position as a leader in the field of eco-efficient container handling equipment.
