The above-mentioned possibilities of AI and IoT do not replace the need for maintenance. Rather, their being more advanced also means more technological failures, which require maintenance.

There is a misconception that smart sensors replace the human need for interventions. Although these systems can accurately utilize algorithms for early detection of failures in pipelines, early detection does not mean they can replace them with smart sensors. The human error, such as

 Oil Analysis: AI can assist by measuring versus sensors, but regular lab tests for fluid health are essential. 

 Visual & Manual Inspections: actively checking for system leaks, noise, overheating, and cracks. 

 Preventive: Set pre-defined data-driven digital check-up schedules. Do not skip check-ups. 

 Consequences of Maintenance Neglect  

Proactive maintenance avoidance stands to incur:
