MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN


Location: Calgary, AB, Canada

The main functions of this job among other duties are:

  • Installing stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools
  • Inspect machinery and equipment as part of the regular maintenance plan, to proactively detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and perform repairs as needed.
  • Read and interpret diagrams and schematic drawings, blueprints, and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
  • Responsible for the preventative maintenance program on all equipment and accountable to the Plant
  • Managed monthly reporting
  • Fabricate in-house parts, including welding, when and as needed and as required by the Plant Manager.
  • Perform timely repairs that might require but are not limited to the installation of bearings, gears and shafts, motors, couplings, belts, and relevant alignments.
    Service and repair hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, and maintenance of the programmable logic controls
  • Ensure all operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications, and installations.
  • Keep an up-to-date, detailed, and accurate maintenance calendar, reports, and documentation at a location advised by the Plant Manager.
  • Operates mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, man lifts, as needed
  • Performs area housekeeping duties, according to the 5S plant program
  • Promotes a team approach and maintains a dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Collaborates with any project teams on other special initiatives, as needed
  • Ensures own safety and the safety of others, knows and follows all safety and health instructions, rules, regulations, and safe work procedures, and reports any unsafe or substandard condition to the
  • Plant Manager
  • Ensures lockout procedures are met
  • Performs other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Training

  • Journeyman Certificate in the Millwright trade in the Province of Alberta preferred.
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certificate is considered an asset
  • Class 5 Drivers’ License with clean drivers’ abstract

Advantage:

  • Professional/academic qualifications in communications, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Previous marketing experience in the Construction Industry and working in B2B

  • Excellent communication skills including written, oral, negotiation, and presentation skills, and a strong understanding of digital communication methods.
  • Excellent prioritization and l time management skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write for a range of audiences.
  • The ability to drive creative strategy from idea to execution
  • The ability to manage multiple stakeholders both internally and externally

Experience

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in an industrial setting
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience in millwright activities in a process, manufacturing, and/or mining environment
  • Mig and Stick welding experience is considered an asset.
  • Mechanical experience on a rotary dryer is considered an asset
  • Troubleshooting PLC and Plant controls experience is crucial

Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the dry grind system and flow system through the mill and pneumatic area
  • Knowledge of the filtering and drying process
  • Knowledge of placard system to accurately identify hazardous materials
  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronics
