Vacancy - Crane Driver / Port Operative

Your role

As a Crane Driver, you will operate mobile harbor cranes and multi-docker cranes safely and efficiently, with your already-received accredited training to enable you to further develop your skills and experience. You will ensure that all checks, audits, and other paperwork are completed accurately and on time.  Inspecting company plant and equipment for damage, you will report any incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences, or damages to the Operations Supervisor without delay.   You will carry out duties in line with Peel Ports’ H&S standards.

As a Port Operative, the role is to work with a team of skilled colleagues within the Vessel Operations Business Unit responsible for discharging/reloading operations. We also see this as the stepping stone to becoming a Crane Driver in the future so fits with our aim to create succession plans for key roles in the business. 

However, if the successful candidate should have the desired Crane Driver skills then they will receive the appropriate Crane Driver salary in line with their skills on the matrix.

What you'll bring

You will have experience driving cranes working in an industrial or logistics environment with knowledge of cargo operations.  You will have a strong understanding of and commitment to delivering health and safety requirements and will enjoy working as part of a team to deliver efficient and effective operations.

  • The starting salary for this role is Port Operative £32,831.55 or Crane Driver £43,665.41 with accredited skill NPORS
  • Average of 45 hours per week, worked based on an annualized hours shift pattern (2340 hours per annum)
