Position Summary:

  • The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting Kongsberg Discovery systems, particularly those related to Semrad. This role involves providing phone, email, and on-site support for vessels of all types, focusing on the Gulf of Mexico and the sport fish market up the East Coast.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to customers and internal staff via telephone, email, and on-site visits.
  • Conduct the installation, commissioning, and upgrades of Kongsberg Discovery products.
  • Document upgrades and changes made to customer equipment following service and installation visits.
  • Update and maintain the service database.
  • Recommend improvements, upgrades, and after-sales opportunities to customers.
  • Train customers on the operation of newly installed systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering on product improvements.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent education in Engineering and/or Technical Discipline, or a minimum of three years of Field Service experience in the Marine Industry.
  • The position requires extensive domestic and international travel, including work aboard offshore vessels.
  • A valid passport and driving license.
  • Must be a US citizen and authorized to work lawfully in the US without company sponsorship.
  • Expect availability for travel with short notice, after hours, on holidays/weekends, and for extended periods locally and internationally.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with computer literacy.
  • Ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Capable of working independently and in a team.
  • Strong customer support and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel, often on short notice.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting systems to the board level.

Pay Range: $36.00 – $38.00/hr. DOE (eligible for overtime)
Work Location: Remote (Preferably between Florida and North Carolina)
