Eaton Launches New Circuit Protection Solution

Eaton Launches New Circuit Protection Solution to Help Global Industry, Commercial Customers Enhance Energy Management, Connectivity and Safety.
Eaton today announced a new circuit protection and electronic trip unit platform designed to simplify communications, equipment protection and energy metering in global commercial and industrial applications. The new Series NRX® low-voltage circuit breakers with Power Xpert® Release trip units can be seamlessly installed within existing panel and switchboard designs to provide enhanced circuit protection, connectivity and worker safety, along with tools for quicker installation and commissioning to help better address the energy management challenges of tomorrow
The platform is engineered with an intuitive user interface that allows for real-time power and energy metering as well as the ability to closely monitor critical performance metrics. User-friendly tools are built directly into the interface to help guide the user as they capture real-time energy data in a visual format, run embedded electrical system tests or automate the production of detailed system reports
The included Power Xpert Protection Manager software can provide and perform secondary injection and test reporting directly through a workstation to simplify testing, serviceability and customization. This capability avoids the need for customers to purchase custom test kits and instead utilizes a secondary current injection feature built into the trip unit.
The new platform also incorporates Eaton’s ArcFlash Reduction Maintenance System, which helps reduce arc flash levels and personal protection equipment (PPE) requirements to improve safety and productivity. Standard safety interlock accessories and covers are available for added protection during maintenance procedures. To meet application requirements, users can design their own solution through the compact size of the Series NRX NF/RF frame and a variety of connection options. Users can also maximize trip unit capability with expanded functionality through the Power Xpert Protection Manager software and three easily modified ground fault settings.
Integrated Modbus RTU communications helps simplify setup and commissioning while eliminating the cost of separate communications components and associated wiring. A secondary communications channel allows connection to external INCOM, Ethernet or Profibus communication modules. Eaton’s new Series NRX with Power Xpert release trip units meet Underwriters Laboratories (UL®) 489 applied in 891 switchboard applications as well as meeting the global International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards and applications.
