General Summary

Operates tractor equipped with a concave blade attached across the front to gouge out, level, and distribute earth and to push trees and rocks from land preparatory to constructing roads and buildings.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Fastens attachments to the tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
• Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
• Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver the tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Feels lever and listens for the stalling action of the engine to estimate the depth of cut.
• Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to a specified grade.
• May grease, oil, and repair the tractor. 

Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent years of experience
• Certification
• Proper certification required
• Completion of an apprenticeship program is required.

• Appropriate training and experience required

• Work in dusty or dirty surroundings

Physically, workers must be able to:

• Stoop, bend, and crouch
• Use hands, arms, and legs fully
• See well (either naturally or with correction)
• Lift to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
