Kalmar, a division of Cargotec, has finalized a deal with CMA Terminals, a subsidiary of CMA CGM, to supply three Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers for SAMR, it's terminal located on Réunion Island. This substantial order was recorded in Cargotec’s Q4 2023 order intake, and the delivery of these machines is slated for Q4 2024.
Réunion Island serves as the pivotal strategic hub for the CMA CGM Group in the Indian Ocean. As a prominent global entity in maritime, land, air, and logistics solutions, the CMA CGM Group has strengthened its commitment by establishing its Indian Ocean trans-shipment hub in 2016. Port Réunion has ascended to become the 4th largest container port in France. Presently, CMA Terminal operates a fleet of Kalmar diesel-electric straddle carriers at its terminal within the port.
