Barrick and Komatsu reach agreement on $440M equipment contract

Barrick and Komatsu have concluded a five-year, $440 million equipment agreement for the Reko Diq copper-gold project in Pakistan. This agreement, which represented a significant hydraulic industry update involved Komatsu supplying ultra-class haul trucks, electric rope shovels, and mining excavators. In addition this symbiotic, pedagogy partnership highlighted one major insight: a growing trend towards sustainable, high-performance equipment in mining. The agreement included the suite of Komatsu equipment being supplied by a newly established Komatsu local entity providing technical support at site. This emphasized the shift towards more comprehensive Asset Lifecycle Management partnerships suitable for attracting project complexity while focusing on the reliability of operations for shareholders.
