Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate automatic or semi-automatic numerically controlled machine tools and/or CNC machining equipment, following standard or repetitive sequences of operations to meet precise tolerance and finish requirements.
  • Follow detailed instructions to define tooling application and coding, fixture and machine arrangements, and console settings.
  • Secure tooling in racks, magazines, or turrets; align and secure fixtures, patterns, and work pieces, and check to establish reference points.
  • Adjust stops and machine travel as needed.
  • Download or input machining programs, ensuring correlation between machine position and controls.
  • Manually cycle machines to verify tooling, fixture, and/or work alignment, clearances, stops, etc., according to program specifications.
  • Make necessary adjustments to meet tolerances and finish requirements or report variations to Supervision or Engineering.
  • Assist, under supervision, in proving out programs for new work or critical variations.
  • Provide recommendations for tooling arrangements, fixtures, operation sequences, etc.
  • Set up and instruct operators of lower classification or lesser experience.
  • Work from part drawings and specifications to produce high-quality parts within blueprint tolerance.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments for inspection and work measurement.
  • Maintain or exceed the approved rate of production.
  • Ensure acceptable attendance and overall work records, and obtain the required tools for the classification.
  • Train operators with lesser experience when necessary.
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions following established processes.
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly, adhering to prescribed safety regulations.
  • Perform light preventative maintenance and housekeeping duties for assigned work center areas and equipment.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Perform additional related duties as deemed necessary by Supervision or Management.
