Description
Position at Hood Lumber

Responsibilities:

Commitment to working safely and following safety rules/procedures.
Transports lumber or other various types of material safely around the mill.
Conduct pre-shift forklift inspections before each use.
Inspects vehicle regularly and notifies supervisor and the maintenance department if needed.
Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting production shifts with other staffing needs when not operating forklifts.
If needed, may hand stack lumber to create a proper bundle of lumber.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma/GED preferred.
Must maintain a valid forklift certification.
1-2 years of prior forklift experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Operation of heavy equipment experience preferred.
Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to make decisions quickly utilizing hand, eye, and foot coordination.
Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Physical Requirements:

Performs tasks such as walking, climbing steps/ladders, sitting, and standing for long periods.
Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
Ability to work outside in all conditions, in and around loud equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift.
