Description

Hiring is continuous in the Dougherty County Public Works for a Heavy Equipment Operator I. The work involves operating heavy equipment and trucks required in the maintenance of the ground, buildings, and roads. Responsible for maneuvering backhoes and bulldozers, loading and compaction of dirt, operating a drag-line crane, clearing land lots, and grading roads.

This class operates under near general supervision following established procedures but makes decisions as to how or when to perform tasks.

Essential Tasks

• Drives heavy machinery like backhoes, bulldozers, earthmovers, dump trucks, motor graders, dragline cranes, front-end loaders, and/or tractors.

• Clears landscapes for manhole forging, constructing new roads, laying pipes, and other construction works.
