Position Summary

Executes advanced transportation maintenance activities using heavy equipment like: a tractor-trailer haul truck, motor grader, large excavator, heavy bulldozer, crane, herbicide truck, heavy asphalt paver, self-propelled asphalt distributor, profiling/milling machine, and dump truck. Contacts with private parties are required for work. Workers at this level complete independent assignments of work; however, all out-of-the-ordinary problems are sent to the supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

Aids in supporting local law enforcement officers at scenes of accidents; aids stranded vehicles as needed
Aids with traffic control; sets and picks up cones, warning signs, and barricades; flags traffic.
Keeps an eye on and completes other needed reports such as time-keeping equipment forms, inventory, accident forms, Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) checklist, and work-in-progress records.
Uses light equipment like a front-end loader-one and a quarter cubic yards or less, pneumatic roller, rotary broom, spreader box, backhoe, street sweeper, and mower.
