Primary Role

The Maintenance Mechanic Level I—IV may be assigned to perform any responsibility that is within the employee's capabilities based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • The Maintenance Mechanic Level I - IV must possess a working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and computer theories, applications, and hardware configurations.
  • The individual must demonstrate basic computer programming skills and abilities related to the process control of flow, pressure, chemical, and electrical systems.
  • The individual must have a thorough understanding of the distribution system network, including, but not limited to, gradients, capacities, interconnections, mapping, service territory, and facility locations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities and related appurtenances.
  • The Maintenance Mechanic Level I - IV must possess a working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and safety practices as well as state and federal regulations applicable to the area of responsibility, including, but not limited to TCPA and OSHA, and will be required to become a certified
  • Emergency Responder.
  • They will submit to an annual physical as an Emergency Responder and a biannual physical for a
  • DOT Medical card. The DOT Medical card allows an individual to operate company vehicles over 10,000 pounds that do not require a commercial driver’s license or CDL.
  • The individual must be able to perform the essential functions and meet the physical requirements for
  • Maintenance Mechanic Level I - IV.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Perform job tasks, activities, and responsibilities of the Level IV Maintenance Mechanic.
  • Perform and/or assist with repairs to and the maintenance of equipment and facilities, such calibration and modification to and the maintenance of equipment and facilities, such as, but not limited to, centrifugal and positive displacement machinery, transducers, recorders, data collection devices, diesel engines, generators, chemical feed equipment, analytical measuring devices, electrical distribution equipment, piping systems, process control equipment, telemetry equipment, etc. 
  • Operates and/or assists in all phases of production operations, as required, such as residual processes equipment, and overall systems operations.
  • The Maintenance Mechanic may be assigned to work all or a portion of scheduled hours at any production facility.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a motor vehicle check.
  • Candidate must be able to pass DOT physical. 
  • Progression
  • The individual will be required to progress through the Maintenance Program to Level IV and will be required to pass qualification examinations, developed by the Company, at each level and established intervals by the program. Failure to achieve the skill required to successfully pass the qualification examination and progress to the next level will result in the individual’s loss of the Maintenance
  • Mechanic position.

Advancement

The Maintenance Mechanic Level IV may advance to Maintenance Technician I when a vacancy is posted provided the individual meets the qualifications and requirements for Maintenance Technician I and passes the Maintenance Technician I examination.
