Hydraulic models are commonly used tools to investigate various environmental issues such as flood risk, fluvial geomorphology, and habitat creation. Many environmental professionals often find themselves in the position of having to commission hydraulic models or interpret results without having the technical background.

This course aims to demystify hydraulic modelling for non-modellers, equipping participants with essential skills to choose an appropriate modelling approach and to understand the assumptions involved in interpreting model results.

Course Objectives
Understand the different types of modelling available

Know the underlying assumptions behind hydraulic modelling

Understand when certain model types are suitable and their limitations

Learn how to specify hydraulic models at the tender stage

Appreciate model scale and uncertainty

The course structure includes presentations, discussions, and worked examples.
