Position Summary:

Responsible for the daily safety inspection and safe operation of mobile cranes and other heavy equipment as required on the AUTEC project.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operates Navy category type 1 and 4 mobile cranes ranging in size from 20 tons to 135 tons
  • Operate other heavy construction equipment as assigned
  • Interpreted load charts and planned all lifts for material, range user, and government equipment being moved
  • Anticipate, preplan, coordinate, and complete all crane work in an efficient manner of operational requirements
  • Perform routine operator maintenance and housekeeping work activities such as ensuring work areas are clean and equipment storage is completed efficiently to ensure personnel safety
  • Obtain and keep current all certifications and licenses for crane and heavy equipment
  • Be able to function on a varying schedule
  • Performs set up and crane operations according to NAVFAC P307 guidelines

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must acquire an NCCCO certificate within one year. Successfully satisfy all applicable International regulatory body and operator certification and/or Navy license/document requirements. Knowledge of NAVFAC P307 preferred.

Experience:

  • Provide proof of at least 4 years heavy equipment operation to include forklifts, loaders, IT's telehandlers, backhoes and semi tractors.
  • 10 years of routine mobile crane operation is required; 130-ton RT and 60,000 lb. stinger are preferred.
  • Security Clearance: Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance

Special Knowledge/Skills Required:

MUST BE US CITIZEN

  • Mobility on sand and rough terrain to supervise activities
  • Must be able to carry objects up to 75 pounds
  • Work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Work extended hours when required
  • Travel to remote sites, if required
  • Respond to off-hour call-ins when required
  • The normal work schedule is 0730 to 1630, Monday through Friday
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays to support various test schedules
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to reside unaccompanied in a remote location with limited medical facilities
  • Valid passport and Driver's license required
