We recently expanded our fleet with the world's largest heavy-lifting vessel, the Bokalift 2. The Motion Compensated Pile Gripper was developed in-house and is typically a project for a senior hydraulic engineer.

Your responsibilities senior hydraulic engineer

Analyzing the hydraulic problem definition and coordination with stakeholders.
Creating the technical concept design and writing functional specification(s).
Supervising basic & detailed engineering.
Budget calculations.
Monitor progress during engineering and work in progress.
Technical inspection of designs, documents, and drawings.
Organizing and leading executive activities at (foreign) locations.
Managing and integrating hydraulics-related activities when commissioning projects.
Share responsibility for official acceptances, sea trials, and final delivery of the assigned disciplines.
Your qualities and experience
You can move ahead as a senior hydraulic engineer if you have:

You have completed a bachelor's or master's in Mechanical Engineering or Maritime Technology.
Over the past five years, you have gained experience in the maritime and/or dredging sector in the field of hydraulic installations.
You have experience with independently designing installations and carrying out troubleshooting on board. Design knowledge and experience with complex hydraulic installations are recommended.
You have experience with complex specifications budgets and tender processes at shipyards, subcontractors, and suppliers.
You have experience in managing internal and external parties to ensure realization, commissioning, and aftercare within the specifications on time, quality, and budget.
You have experience in evaluating and assessing project engineers and subcontractors.
You have an excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written.
Willingness to travel: your place of employment is Papendrecht and you regularly go abroad for shorter periods. Your working environment is, therefore, both national and international.

Extra information

Your team:

 You will become part of the Central Fleet Support Department (CFS) in the role of senior hydraulic engineer. This department offers technical support to the three Boskalis divisions; Dredging & Inland Infrastructure, Offshore Energy and Salvage. You work in a core team of around 30 project engineers and you make an important contribution to the design and development of Dredging, Offshore, and Salvage equipment or components thereof.
Where you will work: For office-based projects; in consultation with your manager and your team, you work partly at home and mainly in the office. In case you are part of a project in execution abroad; willingness to travel globally on a flexible rotational base (work on location for some weeks, followed by some weeks’ leave).
Full/part-time job: The position of senior hydraulic engineer is a full-time job (40 hours a week).
