The effectiveness of on-board machinery contributes substantially to the smooth-running of a large ocean cruise ship or ferry, where the vast majority of people on board are passengers enjoying the experience of sea-going travel.  Efficient deck machinery is vital in managing the regular moorings that these large vessels are required to undertake as they move from port to port.  Rolls-Royce provides a range of mooring and combined anchor/mooring winches that can handle these tasks even in the confines of the tightest harbour.  Our deck machinery is of a modular design, allowing the winches to be tailored to individual vessels’ requirements.  Rolls-Royce winches are available with three main types of drive – low- or high-pressure hydraulic drives or three-speed pole-change or frequency converter stepless speed control electric drives.  This flexibility means that operators can choose both the most effective winch and drive to suit their particular application.  Research investment ensures we are continually improving the range and scope of our equipment, resulting in more efficient and economic winches and associated control and monitoring systems.
