Heavy Equipment Operator

Description

Heavy Equipment Operators have the responsibility of operating several pieces of heavy equipment that perform the spreading and compaction of construction and demolition, and/or commercial and residential waste sent to the landfill or post collection facilities. Equipment operators are subjected to obnoxious odors and visuals, and weather conditions.

Responsibilities of Position

• Execute safe, efficient operation of bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, front-end loaders, wheel loaders, off-road dump trucks, and other equipment.
• Move material safely in a way that does not put personnel or equipment at risk.
• Perform pre-trip/post trip checks on equipment and fill out required forms. Execute regular maintenance on equipment, (i.e., oiling, fueling, and cleaning equipment).
• Operate various equipment for general site preparation, landscaping, snow removal, and/or related tasks.
• Regularly inspect the equipment to maintain its proper functioning and minimal time.
• Cleans waste from equipment body and wheels or tracks.
