Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description

Summary: I traveled around and over job sites on various heavy equipment (graders, dozers, scrapers, excavators, etc.) to move earth, level and distribute it, and to push trees and boulders from land in preparation for building roads and buildings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently operate assigned equipment, which may include operating a company vehicle.
• Makes daily maintenance checks of equipment for fluids, grease, etc.
• Cap to be smooth with machine controls to dig ditches, slopes, grades, clear brush, dress and shape slopes, and other earth-moving tasks.
• Maintain grade by either talking to a grade checker, using machine mounted lasers, or by use on machine mounted GPS as well as without GPS.
• Capacity to set up, set, and dismantle rotating laser equipment/base station.
• Should be able to read grade stakes, do arithmetic, use scale ruler or other fundamental functions utilized to identify grade and read blueprints/plans.
