Hydro Aluminum Metal – Building a New Plant in Cassopolis, MI. 

With new construction of our third Recycling Plant in the US brings the opening of a new, state-of-the-art recycling plant in Cassopolis, Michigan, with startup first of 2024. We are looking for talented, ambitious employees to join our “dream team” and you could be part of serving a great purpose in Hydro’s ambitious sustainability agenda, supplying the automotive industry with recycled aluminum, and further improving the impact on the climate and environment. 

The Maintenance Technician supports the operation by safely performing proactive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and assisting in maintaining spare parts inventory. This role continuously works on improving processes to reduce downtime, utilizing open lines of communication to resolve problems in a cost-efficient and expedient manner.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow proper Lock/Tag/Try procedures for machine lockouts as well as a proper maintenance troubleshooting safety procedure.
Evaluate corrective maintenance requirements to determine the need for outside contractors.
Assist operations in obtaining production targets and eliminating bottlenecks by serving in the following processes when needed: Charging, melting, casting, homogenizing, sawing, packing, and loading.
Identify, comprehend, and be responsible for consistently meeting or exceeding the “customers” quality objectives, both internal and external. “Do it right the first time”.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: 

Experience in industrial maintenance position
Excellent communication and interaction skills for dealing with operators, shift leaders, maintenance colleagues, management, vendors, and partners.
Excellent understanding of Housekeeping and HES principles, and OSHA knowledge will be an advantage.
Solid understanding/knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, combustion, electrical and mechanical maintenance as well as Preventive maintenance and ability to pass mechanical comprehension and basic mathematics assessments.
Solid understanding of PC’s as well as PM software utilization.
Problem-solving skills essential to fixing production service and manufacturing system problems
The high energy level and the ability to handle several urgent tasks at once
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The role requires the Ability to stand, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, climb on and into equipment frequently, and work in extreme temperatures. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
HS diploma or GED required, plus 5+ years relevant job experience preferred.

Travel is less than 2% (i.e. visits to other Hydro plants for training),

PAY:

$36.00 - $40.00 per hour (based on experience)
