Hydraulic news

Volvo Construction Equipment has added five more excavators to its line of hybrids—the EC260 Hybrid, EC300 Hybrid, EC370 Hybrid, EC400 Hybrid, and EC500 Hybrid—that utilize its hybrid hydraulic technology.

These crawler machines, which weigh from 26 to 50 tons—a Boom-down motion collects energy from boom-down and stores it in an accumulator to use for when needed uses an assist motor to improve efficiency and performance.

The improvements from the hybrid system: 20% better fuel efficiency and around 15% less CO₂ compared with conventional excavators—all while providing Volvo’s expected productivity.

The hybrid system has fewer hoses and couplings than a traditional excavator system (and therefore reduced maintenance costs as well as reliability).

This is one of the most recent news items related to hydraulics, and shows that hybrid technology is playing a significant role in making excavators a greener and more cost-efficient option.
