Resource Waste Services of Lewison is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. 

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment in the field. You will make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, and more. This position will help with repair and maintain plant equipment. Perform routine preventive maintenance on conveyors and plant sorting equipment. This position does require working outside and in a variety of weather conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The mechanic will perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
  • Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs
  • Maintain a safe work environment through job planning and identification and correction of hazards.
  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems and equipment utilizing skills in welding, pipefitting, plumbing, millwright, and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate mechanical problems; implement corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Ability to diagnose issues with hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret plans, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Plan and layout work by applicable standards and codes.
  • Performs repair or preventive maintenance on conveyors, plant sorting equipment, and heavy equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
  • Provide estimates of time and materials required, requisition tools and supplies by established procedures.
  • Completes all paperwork associated with repairs, documenting parts usage and work order times.
  • Ability to work in different types of weather. There will be outside work.
  • Must be able to work overtime
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and reports, as required.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One to three years of equivalent experience.
  • Requires the use of analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within the prescribed limitations.
  • Experience in pump, motor, and gear reducer repair and troubleshooting.
  • Welding experience a plus
  • Mechanical Certification(s) preferred.
