Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, i.e., cranes,
bulldozers, graders, and conveyors used for construction and surface mining.

• Repair and replace broken or worn components.
• Break down and rebuild heavy machinery using hoists and hand tools.
• Test and inspect equipment or heavy machines to identify flaws.
• Check mechanical products and equipment after repairs or assembly for correct functioning
and conformity with manufacturers' requirements.
● Clean, lubricate, and do other routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
● Read and interpreted operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
● Overhaul and test machines or equipment to guarantee operating efficiency.
● Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
● Diagnose faults or malfunctions to establish required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
