It`s a matter of control: Liebherr 120-tonne mobile crane with new LICCON3 control system

Liebherr has introduced the LTM 1120-4.2, an upgraded 120-tonne mobile crane featuring the advanced LICCON3 control system.

This enhancement signifies a shift from the previous LTM 1120-4.1 model, incorporating several key advancements:

LICCON3 Control System: The third-generation Liebherr Computed Control (LICCON3) system offers a completely new software architecture and programming language, a faster data bus, increased memory, and higher computing power. Despite these technological advancements, the system maintains a familiar operating concept, ensuring a seamless transition for crane operators. Additionally, LICCON3 cranes are prepared for telemetry and fleet management as standard, allowing future integration with the MyLiebherr customer portal for comprehensive data evaluation.

Design and Comfort Enhancements: The LTM 1120-4.2 features a modern driver's cabin with premium materials and improved ergonomics, including a multifunction steering wheel, enhanced instruments, and new displays. Both the driver's and crane operator's cabs are equipped with a new automatic heating and air-conditioning system, featuring a sun sensor for optimal climate control. Lighting packages have been optimized with LED technology, providing better illumination and longer service life.

Technical Innovations: This model introduces the TraXon DynamicPerform oil-cooled starting clutch, enabling almost wear-free starting and maneuvering. New driver assistance systems, such as the Blind Spot Information System and Moving Off Information System, enhance driving safety. The crane is also prepared for RemoteDrive, allowing for external wireless remote control—a significant advantage on confined construction sites. The inclusion of the VarioBase® system as a standard increases performance, flexibility, and safety during operations.

The LTM 1120-4.2 maintains its predecessor's impressive capabilities, including a 66-meter telescopic boom—the longest ever installed on a 4-axle mobile crane—and the ability to achieve hook heights up to 91 meters with lattice extensions. These features make it ideal for tasks such as erecting tower cranes and radio masts.

Liebherr's commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology and design in the LTM 1120-4.2 underscores its dedication to enhancing efficiency, safety, and operator comfort in the field of mobile cranes.
