Position Overview: 

Optimas is looking for an experienced Preventative Maintenance Technician on a permanent basis, to help the Company achieve increased efficiency and productivity as well as respond to machine breakdowns as they happen. 

The role is designed to support the Production Department in all aspects of preventative and reactive maintenance with the focus being on reduction of machine downtime. 

The position is based at our state-of-the-art UK Manufacturing site in Droitwich.  

Main responsibilities: 

  • The Preventative Maintenance Technician will be responsible for: 
  • Carrying out routine PM programmes which have been accepted as the PM Dept.’s responsibility through liaison with Departmental Supervisors
  • Carrying out emergency repairs to plant and equipment is a priority
  • Some general machining, fitting, and design
  • Maintaining adequate P.M. stores and records of P.M. work carried out within the Company’s 
  • CMMS
  • Communicate all problems and other work-related issues with the supervisor
  • Assisting with project work aimed at the continuous improvement of production plant and equipment and operational methods to achieve increasing productivity and zero defects
  • Identifying cost savings, quality issues, production issues, and Health and Safety concerns

 Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Eagerness to learn and develop a career within Preventative Maintenance
  • Round hands-on practical experience/skill and success in production machinery maintenance, preferably in cold forging/fastener environment but at least with heavy industrial equipment
  • A comprehensive knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication systems is also necessary.
  • Fault detecting/repairs to mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic machinery and equipment.
  • Sheet metal work/welding preferred
  • Reading Engineering drawings & Technical drawings
  • Good communicator and Team player
  • Technically intuitive - Ability to learn new systems quickly
