Operator - Backhoe/Trackhoe/Excavator

Purpose:   Engages in work to operate rubber tire backhoe or trackhoe safely and efficiently to conduct grading and excavation operations.

Job responsibilities:  Inspect all fluid levels at the start of engine operation for the day, check gauges and fluid levels during the day while in operation. Observe the operation of the hoe during the workday, be aware of any unusual noises or operations, and report any exception to the supervisor.

Make light mechanical adjustments and/ or help mechanic make repairs on assigned equipment, help lubricate and fuel the hoe.

The capability to do a range of work, which might include cleaning or cutting ditches, fine grading, shaping subgrades, base material backfilling, laying pipe, loading trucks, and hoisting.

The capacity to cut in the region of known utilities without damaging the underground utility, wok boom and bucket around overhead lines without damaging.
