Rolls-Royce Expands Waterjet Product Line with Larger Stainless Steel Models

Rolls-Royce today announced the addition of three larger stainless steel Kamewa waterjets to its product range. These new models are specifically designed for use in larger vessels over 30 meters in length.

With fewer components, the new waterjets are easier to install, reducing both the time and the specialist skills required. This results in shorter vessel build times and lower construction costs. Each unit is supplied as a complete package, including the inlet, main hydraulics, valves, and factory-calibrated electronics where necessary. The pump system utilizes proven waterjet technology, and the entire assembly is pre-built and tested at Rolls-Royce’s Kokkola facility.

Tommi Viiperi, Sales Manager at Rolls-Royce, commented:
“We have been supplying integrated skids and hydraulics in our smaller products for some time, and have proven that doing so enables designers, shipyards, and operators to better focus on their core responsibilities, ultimately lowering total costs without compromise.”

The three new models—S71, S80, and S90—complete the larger steel-series lineup.

The Kamewa steel series is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing the use of aluminum, steel, or composite materials. This means the inlet material, shape, and pump type can be optimized based on vessel requirements, including lightweight and high-performance hull installations. The use of composite materials in the transom flange and inlet tube offers additional benefits such as reduced weight, lower costs, and improved corrosion resistance.
