Job Description
Summary:
          Support the creation of project deliverables and contract documents aligning with company design standards and client specifications.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Direction:
         Execute tasks under moderate supervision, exercising independent judgment occasionally.
Operational and Company Level:
        Collaborate with senior staff for guidance and assistance in design work.

Perform the Work:

  • Convert relevant data into accurate, neat, and promptly generated electronic drawings and project documents.
  • Conduct horizontal computations for boundary surveys, analyzing field locations, and recording information for property line determination.
  • Draft final house location surveys from field notes and personal measurements.
  • Compute horizontal positions for planned structures, streets, and curbs for stakeouts.
  • Check completeness and accuracy of record plats before submission for review.
  • Submit plots to the county for assessment.
  • Develop expertise in ALTA Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and residential/commercial construction stakeout procedures.
  • Perform complex computations for the traverse, record plats, boundary surveys, construction stakeouts, and horizontal control.
  • Execute various surveys related to land development, including boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, and subdivision work.

Education, Work Experience, Licensure/Certifications, and Technical Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in survey, geography, architecture, or civil engineering preferred.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of survey and/or CAD experience in land development/land survey industry.
  • Knowledge of basic design concepts and technical calculations.
  • Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • A surveyor-in-training certificate is preferred; relevant survey licensure is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Carlson and/or Civil 3D is essential.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

  • Partly indoor professional office environment with potential factors like light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Mobility within the office environment.
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment.
  • A partly outdoor work environment with varying conditions such as weather, temperatures, noise, and potential hazards.
  • Mobility around job/construction sites, including activities like walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling, and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent use of data collection equipment and/or drones, requiring walking in the study area over several hours.
  • Primarily local travel during business hours, with occasional out-of-area and overnight travel as needed by the business.
