An air-cooled heat Exchanger, or Air Cooler, is a heat transfer device used to transfer heat from a hot fluid (liquid, gas, or vapour, such as oil, water, gasoline ...) to the surrounding ambient air. An air cooler consists of one or more finned-tube heat exchangers, through which the hot fluid flows, to create a heat transfer interface, and where an air fan or blower blows air over the top of the finned-tube heat exchangers to dissipate the heat.

An air-cooled oil Cooler is a type of air cooler that is used specifically to cool hydraulic, engine, or lubricating oils. It is very important to keep the operating temperature of machinery in the optimal range to keep the oil from degrading and the components (bearing, etc.) from wearing too quickly. One of the appealing characteristics of oil coolers is their compact and light design, making them ideal for mobile and industrial equipment that may not have water as a deliberately used medium for cooling.
