Mobile Equipment Operator

Primary Responsibilities and Obligations:

• Adheres to all Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures required in the yard.
• Daily checks mobile shear, magnet crane, and fixed shear, and reports on checklists to ensure equipment is serviced and in good working condition.
• Conducts daily preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure good working conditions, such as lubrication, greasing, fueling, and cleaning the cab.
• Checks for good scrap grade and safety and environmental issues like tanks, cylinders, etc., while shearing.
• Shears unprepared material into a prepared condition, recognizing size, thickness, and physical dimensions.
• Employ a magnet crane to load/unload scrap from customer trucks into the right piles or railcars for processing for shipment.
• Utilize mobile equipment for lifting and relocating scrap from one location within the yard to another.
